ADAPTATION AS AN OBJECTIVE AND CONDITION FOR THE SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE OF A COMBAT MISSION BY A SERVICEMAN

Abstract

The goal of the article is to highlight the importance of adaptation of military personnel to combat conditions as an important element of psychological readiness and resilience to provide combat tasks in contemporary military conflicts characterized by high dynamics and complexity. Methodology. During the scientific research, such theoretical methods as: analysis, synthesis and generalization have been used. The scientific novelty is the fact that contemporary military conflicts are characterized by rapid changes in the combat situation, a high level of stress, thus the adaptation becomes an integral element of ensuring psychological readiness, stability and combat capability of military units. The adaptation includes not only psychological readiness and physical endurance, but also the ability to make quick decisions in extreme situations, which directly affects the effectiveness of the assigned combat tasks. Conclusion. The article has been provided a comprehensive theoretical analysis of contemporary scientific research that focuses on innovative approaches to improving the process of adaptation of military personnel in combat conditions. Various adaptation models have been identified among both foreign and domestic researchers, which take into account the specifics of military service, the conditions of combat operations, as well as psychological and physiological factors that affect the ability of the military personnel to adapt to new challenges and threats in the conditions of contemporary armies. The adaptation of military personnel has been considered as a multi-component process, which includes stages of professional and psychological training by profession, which contribute to the formation of knowledge, abilities, skills, and resistance to stress factors of contemporary combat. It is not only a process of adaptation to the conditions of service, but also a strategic goal emphasizing the importance of adaptation to achieve high effectiveness on the battlefield. The adaptation allows military servicemen not only to survive in difficult conditions (uncertainty, novelty, suddenness, lack of time, increasing pace of actions), but also to succeed in the performance of combat tasks, which makes it a critically important condition of contemporary military operations.
