EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES OF A TEACHER IN A GENERAL SECONDARY EDUCATION INSTITUTION UNDER MODERN CHALLENGES

Abstract

This study presents a comprehensive analysis of the educational activities of teachers in general secondary education institutions, based on the provisions of the New Ukrainian School concept and considering contemporary challenges and educational transformations. The purpose of the study is to substantiate the theoretical and methodological foundations of teachers’ educational activities in light of current issues and challenges related to the development of the younger generation. The research methodology is grounded in acmeological and competency-based approaches aimed at continuous personal and professional development of teachers. It also employs methods of analysis and synthesis of scientific sources, as well as systematization of theoretical provisions. The study analyses the current content and key directions of educational activity, structured around three interrelated components: cognitive, emotional-value, and activity-practical. The results of a criterion-based evaluation of the educational activities of teacher-organizers in general secondary education institutions in the Zhytomyr region are presented. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the theoretical interpretation of modern educational activities of teachers in general secondary education institutions, built on competency-based principles, as well as in the specification of evaluation criteria in accordance with contemporary security and socio-cultural challenges. The study theoretically demonstrates that the effectiveness of teachers’ educational activities is determined not only by their level of informational awareness but also by the development of skills such as psychological facilitation, pedagogical partnership, reflective thinking, and media education competence. The conclusions indicate that modern requirements for teachers’ educational activities have become significantly more complex under conditions of martial law. These conditions demand alignment of pedagogical actions with rapid societal changes, technological advancement, and the specific developmental characteristics of contemporary schoolchildren. Teachers’ awareness of these complex requirements and their integration into partnership-based interaction with participants in the educational process contribute to enhancing professional competence. Prospects for further research include the study of modern methodological approaches and their implementation in educational practice, the development of effective methods and technologies of educational influence in cooperation with students and their parents, and the creation of diagnostic tools for assessing the effectiveness of educational work.
