Abstract

The purpose of the article is to conduct a comparative analysis of contemporary Ukrainian, American, and Chinese research on cognitive regulation and the psychophysiological predictors of emotional resilience. The research methodology is based on systemic, comparative, and sociocultural approaches. The study employs the methods of theoretical analysis, synthesis, comparison, generalization, and systematization of contemporary scientific sources. The scientific novelty lies in the comprehensive comparison of contemporary approaches to the study of emotional resilience within the Ukrainian, American, and Chinese scientific traditions. It is substantiated that the sociocultural context significantly influences the choice of cognitive regulation strategies while not altering the universal psychophysiological mechanisms of adaptation to stress. It has been established that American studies emphasize the role of personal agency, cognitive reappraisal, and self-efficacy; Chinese studies focus on maintaining inner harmony, emotional restraint, and the integration of cognitive and psychophysiological processes; Ukrainian studies highlight the development of psychological adaptation resources, the cognitive reinterpretation of traumatic experiences, and the search for personal meaning under conditions of prolonged wartime stress. Conclusions. Emotional resilience is a multilevel psychobiological phenomenon that develops through the interaction of cognitive, emotional, and psychophysiological mechanisms. The effectiveness of cognitive regulation of emotional resilience is determined not by the universality of individual strategies but by their correspondence to the sociocultural context. The practical significance of the findings lies in the possibility of applying them to the development of culturally sensitive programs for strengthening emotional resilience, providing psychological support to the population under conditions of chronic stress, and improving the professional training of mental health specialists.
