FORMATION OF ENGLISH LISTENING SKILLS FOR FUTURE LAWYERS AS A COMPONENT OF PROFESSIONAL FOREIGN LANGUAGE TRAINING

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to identify effective methods for developing English-language listening skills among law students within the context of their professional foreign language training and to design pedagogical conditions that enhance the comprehension of authentic legal audio materials. The methodology of the study on the development of English-language listening skills for future lawyers as an element of their professional language training is based on a comprehensive approach that includes the analysis of modern pedagogical methods, the creation of effective learning resources, and the integration of innovative technologies into the educational process. The methodological framework relies on communicative, competency-based, task-based, and interdisciplinary approaches. Tools such as Moodle, TED-Ed, Edpuzzle, and BBC Learning English have been used. The article presents an overview of pedagogical conditions that ensure the effective formation of future lawyers’ listening skills.The scientific novelty lies in the enhancement of the approach to the development of future legal professionals’ listening skills through the integration of authentic legal audio materials (interviews with lawyers, courtroom debates, legal-themed podcasts) into the learning process. A methodology for improving listening skills has been proposed, taking into account the specifics of legal terminology and stylistics.Conclusions. Mastery of English language listening skills is a vital component of professional training for future lawyers. The use of authentic legal audio materials increases students’ motivation, fosters professionally oriented foreign language competence, and ensures high-quality preparation for working in an international legal environment.
